Privacy Policy

Effective July 7, 2026

The short version

We collect the minimum needed to run TubeGrok: your account email, the YouTube links you analyze, and usage counts for billing. Video transcripts we process are typically public captions. We never sell your data. AI processing runs on third-party model providers — including DeepSeek, whose data handling is disclosed plainly below.

What we collect

  • Account data — email and profile basics, handled by our sign-in provider (Clerk).
  • Content you submit — YouTube URLs, the transcripts of those videos (usually public captions), questions you ask in chat, and the analyses, courses, and artifacts we generate for you.
  • Usage & billing data — counts of analyses and video-hours processed (to enforce plan limits honestly), and subscription state. Payments are handled by Paddle; we never see your card number.
  • Waitlist — your email and chosen segment, used only for launch communication.
  • Analytics — aggregate, privacy-preserving page analytics (Vercel Analytics). No cross-site tracking cookies.

AI processing — read this part

Transcripts and your questions are sent to large-language-model providers to generate results. Our primary provider is DeepSeek, whose API is operated from the People’s Republic of China and whose terms permit retention of API inputs and their use for model training. Most of what we send is publicly available YouTube caption text, but your chat questions are included in that processing. We also use US-based fallback providers (Fireworks AI, Novita — both no-train/no-retain) and optionally Anthropic. If this processing model doesn’t work for you, don’t use TubeGrok — we’d rather say it plainly than bury it.

  • Supadata — transcript retrieval fallback
  • Vercel & Railway — application hosting; Vercel Analytics

Retention & deletion

Analyses and transcripts are cached so repeat views are instant. Account data and your library persist until you delete your account. Email privacy@tubegrok.com to request export or deletion of your data; we’ll complete it within 30 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (EU/UK GDPR, India DPDP, and similar), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or erase your personal data, and to object to processing. Use the email above; there’s no dark-pattern gauntlet on the other side.

Changes

If we materially change this policy we’ll note it here with a new effective date, and email account holders for significant changes.
